Obesity

According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary obesity is a case marked by the extravagant accumulation and storage of fat in the body. In the UAE obesity and related health problems are a huge concern as the percentage of obese people goes up every year. The UAE is ranked in the 18th place of the world’s fattest countries. An estimate of 68.3% of the county’s citizens is overweight. There are some diseases that are related to obesity such as: osteoarthritis, heart strokes, cancer, high blood pressure, breathing problems, and diabetes, and the UAE is the second highest country that has diabetes in the world. The more fat around the stomach’s area the higher your risk of developing heart and breathing diseases. Calories matter; some people eat a low amount of food but still get overweight or sometimes obese and others eat more than the number of calories that they should get and still stay fit; why is that? It depends on the quality of calories that you are consuming. For example, A ate 100 calories of nuts and B ate 100 calories of packaged snacks, although both of them consumed the same amount of calories the quality of the fat that each portion contains is different. To wrap it up always consider quality not quantity.

Obesity is one of the main causes of many different diseases. Obesity is spreading all over the UAE because people hate to do physical games; they prefer video games and cinema instead of playing football or swimming. There are a lot of new technologies that people use as an entertainment and there are a variety of choices for the people to choose. Junk food is one of the main reasons for obesity in the UAE; fast food restaurants are all over the UAE and they provide a lot of options for the customers comfort by delivering the food all the way to the customer’s place.  When people come to the UAE they become obese," said Dr Fuad Ahmed, a consultant specializing in obesity surgery. He blamed long working hours because people stay for seven or more hours sitting in the offices without moving a lot, junk food and a climate that discourages outdoor exercise as the UAE is very hot and has only two seasons. Are important factor.  If we go back 30 years, people in the UAE were healthier because they were more dependent on their bodies. Rashi Chowdhary says the number of expats who used her nutrition and weight-loss services has doubled in the past two years because now everything is on their bottoms. Cars everywhere, lifts everywhere. Kids under 11 years old are getting fatter every year because of bad surveillance from the parents.

There are many ways that you can follow to lose the extra weight you’ve gained through the years. The period of diet can be long or short; it depends on the amount of kilograms you want to lose. Some people go with a diet plan by themselves that can be wrong; because they starve themselves and may eat only one meal a day which is wrong. Maybe the proportion of the food they eat is little but the calories it contains are too much for example: candy, chocolate, soft drinks, and packaged food. It is true that they solve one problem which is obesity but they’ll have other health problems like constipation and anemia, which can cause hair loss and loss of consciousness. Moreover, not including exercises in your schedule is a huge issue because it helps a lot with weight loss. On the other hand, there are proper diet plane or solutions. Some people get medicines that can help them burn calories or reduce their appetite; others get surgeries done; these operations could be helpful if you are at least 80 pounds overweight; it might also be an option for people who have high blood pressure, and heart or lungs diseases, these surgeries get you to eat small amount of food. It works for the people who exercise and eat healthy, but if you ate chocolates it will still be the same and you won’t benefit from the surgery. These kinds of solutions can be risky sometimes because it can cause death, so it’s better to choose the easy affordable way to loss weight; you can start by cutting junk food out of your life; next is to do some exercises like jogging or swimming, and then start snacking fruits and greens that are high in fibers and loaded with multi-vitamins. It may take a long time but it’s a healthy and effective way.
